The annual Carnival and Sports Day dates back to at least 1918 and, apart from a short break during the Second World War and a year off in 2020 due to the COVID-19 virus, has continued ever since. The event is a fun day out for all ages and raises vital funds for the Village facilities.
In 2018, after many successful years as the Chairman, the late Dennis Powell stood down and became the Honorary President. The committee was then co-chaired by Duncan Forbes and David Odgers until the successful completion of the 2022 carnival. Ed Powell then took over as Chairman until the end of 2026. Since 2022 Duncan Forbes has been the Treasurer, taking over from the long-standing Tony Phelps.
